May I Introduce..

Half of my Mad Scientist. Drilled through and strung up. And boy do I love polymer clay, even though it might make me sick from breathing in it's dust.. But hey, it WORKED.

It was a somewhat long process, but it was the best way I could think of. And I learned a few things while drilling and stringing. One is I get to mold a hollow body (mid-torso, I say) in order for the strings, as well as the drill, to get through the way I need them to. And I also get the fun filled pleasure of re-doing the neck. BAH!

Ah, learning made easy through mistakes. At any rate, I managed to drill holes through the arms and chest easily because the friction from the cordless drill heated up the clay (you could even feel it go through the forearms, awesome indeed). Making that task a bit easier to manage. Surprisingly the only sign of damage is in his left upper arm. A few cracks due to the drill getting off course. But everything else is peachy. Now all I have to do is drill the rest of him, mold a torso and neck, make a mold for his face, and then slap it all together using.. er, wire? Strong elastic? Rubber bands? Snot? We'll try a few things to see what works best, but for the mean time he's being held together with thin elastic band (the kind that little kids make bracelets out of.. the ones that snap and the beads go everywhere and then the kid gets all teary-eyed and loses her shit because, oh however will she make another one!!) ......... I mean.. nope, nevermind, that kid just needs to calm down. For there are Mad Scientist to be made!

New Job and New Projects

Just to let you know, you will be getting more pictures here in a bit. I not only managed to get my hands on a sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project but I also got a 'job' as a cartoonist for The Buchtelite (the University of Akron's campus paper). So you will be seeing my slow progress on the sketchbook. My topic being "Dirigibles and Submersibles", so I want to try for either several pictures of tons of different models of nonsensical creations for the sky and the water, or a few story lines. So it'll kind of look as crazy as the pictures that managed to spread themselves everywhere on the page:
Fun stuff, I agree. I mean, men with ridiculous beards and moustaches and child labor! What wonders!

In the mean time, I also have two projects that I have put on the back burner. One being the rebirth of "Worst Halloween Special". The other being the continuous journey of me finishing my ball-jointed doll so that I can make my "Mad Scientist" stop animation film. All that I have left on it is to sculpt the head and face, then to drill holes and string him up. I'll get pictures of him when he's all put together. And so you know.. He is about 18 inches tall, or about the length of an average bed pillow. Yeah, shot myself in the foot a bit there..
